Jason Caslor
Bio(s)
Jason Caslor is currently an associate professor of music and the director of bands at Arizona State University (ASU). In addition to directing the wind ensemble, he also mentors graduate conducting students and teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting courses. Recent highlights include the ASU Wind Ensemble’s commercial recording of Kevin Day’s 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Music nominated Concerto for Wind Ensemble, being a recipient of the Canadian Band Association’s 2022 International Band Award, presenting his session “The Ritual of Score Study and Rehearsal Planning” at the 2022 CASMEC Conference, and guest conducting the United States Army Field Band.

Citing such thinkers as Csikszentmihalyi, Jha, Goleman, and Hari, this session will focus on the science of attention span and offer ways that it can inform how we live, score study, teach, rehearse, and conduct.
